Our youth represent the future of our world!

Our mission is not to entertain our children,
but to call them out!

Director, Children's Church, Y.O.U. - Toni King

To be "called Out" is to follow the harmonious law of the soul's unfoldment. Who meddles with the rosebud? What fingers are deft enough to pry open that marvel of folded beauty? We are wise enough to leave the rosebud alone to follow the glad law of its own unfolding…

At Unity of Reno, we value and encourage our "buds of marvelous possibilities." We remember that they, too, must quicken and unfold through the innate law of their own genius.

Our loving youth staff is committed to creating a safe and flexible structure we can depend on, and yet set aside when necessary. Spiritual growth takes place through sharing, experiencing, teaching and learning in a trusting, loving , empowering environment.

Our children, newborns through Y.O.U. are accepted unconditionally at Unity of Reno, and every child is valued as a unique expression of God.

In Love and Service,
Toni King
Director, Children's Church, Y.O.U.

The Unity movement bases all study for children on the method of the Living Curriculum. This practice was set forth by Unity’s co-founder, Myrtle Fillmore.

Through this practice, we see education as a process, and we support the unfolding of the child’s spiritual nature, as well as encouraging them to model spiritual principles in their every day lives.

The following lesson plans in each of the age groups are all based on Unity Principles. To reinforce these ideas, the children pray, meditate, use affirmations, and explore Bible passages.

Yes! Even the tiniest tot can do these things!!!

These wee ones come in with their own special wisdom and are anxious to grow into the world around them.

Curriculum: What a Wonderful World!

Through Bible and secular stories, creative expression and movement, the intent of this curriculum is:

  • To draw forth the spiritual truth that already resides within each child.
  • To offer children experiences of who “I AM” as a spiritual being, we “we are” as family and community, and the nature of God.
  • To uphold, demonstrate and express that all of Life is sacred and that, indeed, we are the co-creators of this wonderful world!

Power Kids Ages 7 - 12

Power KidsPossessing a strong sense of Unity Basics, these children move forward in their under-standing of Practical Christianity and New Thought. They are developing the life-long tools needed to face the challenges of the outer world successfully and with confidence!

Curriculum: The Twelve Gifts From God

This material by Marilyn K. Richardson, was developed for children based on the works of Charles Fillmore; most notably, The Twelve Powers of Man. Through discussions and activities, the children thoroughly explore and learn to use these divine powers that we all share. They are Faith, Love, Strength, Good Judgement, Power, Imagination, Understanding, Will, Order, Zeal, Release, and Life.

Y.O.U Ages 13 – 18

Y.O.U. is the Youth of Unity, a group of young people seeking to know themselves and understand the universe and their place in it.

Curriculum: Teens on the Quest

Lessons are tailored to the needs of teens with material derived from Richard and Mary Alice Jafolla’s book, The Quest, A Journey of Spiritual Rediscovery.

Sunday mornings will find these young people seriously focusing on group discussions to foster spiritual growth in their daily walk.

In delving more deeply into the lives of teens, there are also lessons revolving around Jane Simmon’s book, The I of the Storm for Teens, Finding Peace in the Midst of Conflict.

This dynamic group also plans extra-curricular activities, fun fundraisers, and community service in addition to Y.O.U. rallies!
